I love to shop at IKEA. Unfortunately the closest store is ~500 miles away in Phoenix and a minivan rental costs ~$150. Thankfully the cost was divided up because a few coworkers (also IKEA fans!) wanted to buy some bed frames, shelves, kitchen utensils, dinnerware and toys too! Oh, and Joseph came all the way from LA to help out! THANKS!
Here is my IKEA Phoenix journey in pictures:
~ THURSDAY NIGHT ~
Pricelined 3 star Raddison for $55 (2 days before check in). Beautiful lobby.
Apparently the Radisson has some special deal with the sleep number mattresses…all their beds have this remote control for the firm/softness of your mattress. Verdict: No good…no matter what sleep number I tried, it just didn’t feel right.
~ FRIDAY MORNING ~
We picked up the minivan and arrived at IKEA for $1.99 breakfast! The first sight of IKEA was like a dream come true.
Empty Town & Country Minivan (all seats folded down! How cool!):
IS THIS GOING TO FIT IN THE MINIVAN?
SUCCESS! Remember IKEA products stack REALLY well. Full minivan:
Lunch at Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop…Capastrami (Hot pastrami! YUM!), Cran Slam Club(Turkey, Cranberry sauce, ham! Interesting!), and they accidentally gave us a free Slaw Be Jo (roast beef, cole slaw) (now, read ‘Slaw Be Jo’ 10 times, and then you’ll say…CLEVER NAME!). Good sandwiches, especially the hot pastrami!
Next we stopped by Ted’s Charcoal Broil Dogs for some hot dog taste testing. Verdict…Grey’s Papaya of Manhattan is still the best. That alone can be the reason to visit Manhattan again!!!
We took a quick stop for some ol’ fashion ice cream at Mary Coyle Ice Cream & Yogurt
It was reallllly good!
Our drive back to Albuquerque:
oh what??? =)
We found out that Joseph actually has a city named after him!!
We arrived in Albuquerque around 11pm.
~ SATURDAY ~
Joseph has his first New Mexican meal at El Pinto
(Kuan was also there)
…and of course Sopapias and honey!!!

Now that the Phoenix trip is over, Joseph is back in LA, and I have my IKEA goods…
…I’m tired…very tired.
So what did I buy at IKEA? Stay tuned for my next post!
