Can’t sleep

I can’t quite sleep — just thinking about life in general: about what it means to be Christian…what the future holds…how to see things from a different perspective…what is right and wrong…

anyway, while I was dozing off, I found these interesting reads. Hope you enjoy:

WHY GO TO CHURCH

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of the newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. “I’ve gone for 30 years now,” he wrote, “and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them. So, I think I’m wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.”

This started a real controversy in the “Letters to the Editor” column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: I’ve been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!”

When you are DOWN to nothing…. God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible!

Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

The Lord is my programmer; I shall not crash.
He installed his software on the hard disk of my heart;
all of his commands are user-friendly.
His directory guides me to the right choices for his name’s sake.
Even though I scroll through the problems of life,
I will fear no bugs, for He is my backup.
His password protects me.
He prepares a menu before me in the presence of my enemies.
His help is only a keystroke away.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life,
and my file will be merged with his and saved forever.
Amen

THE WAY TO THE GOOD LIFE
A few years ago, at the Seattle Special Olympics, nine contestants, all physically or mentally disabled, assembled at the starting line for the 100-yard dash. At the gun, they all started out, not exactly in a dash, but with a relish to run the race to the finish and win. All, that is, except one little boy who stumbled on the asphalt, tumbled over a couple of times,
and began to cry. The other eight heard the boy cry. They slowed down and looked back. Then they all turned around and went back. Every one of them. One girl with Down’s Syndrome bent down and kissed him and said: “This will
make it better.” Then all nine linked arms and walked together to the finish line. Everyone in the stadium stood, and the cheering went on for several minutes. People who were there are still telling the story. Why? Because deep down we know this one thing: What matters in this life is more than winning for ourselves. What matters in this life is helping others win, even if it means slowing down and changing our course.

To the world, you may just be somebody…but to somebody, you may be the world.

Am I a Geek?

Update #2: I couldn’t help myself but to look for more geek jokes…here are some more (I think I’m a really a geek…I actually think that way!!):

You know you are a geek when you say I am going to check up on my mother, and you really mean your motherboard.
you know your a geek when your computer desk doubles as your dinner table.
You know you are a geek when You have more e-mail addresses than you do pairs of shoes.
You know you are a geek when you get depressed when you get less than 10 e-mail msgs a day.
You know you are a geek when you plot to get your grandmother on E-mail.
You know you are a geek when you everyone in the neighborhood brings you (to) their computers to figure out what is wrong.
You know you are a geek when you you can remember your web address faster than your phone number.

my own:
I know I am a geek when people know me by the name yeast rather than my real name
I know I am a geek when all my pictures are digital and never printed

I liked this foxtrot comic…something I would have done myself too! ha ha! =P

I think this is what would happen if my mom was doing Sudoku in real life…dad would probably finish it for her!

This one is interesting…I seem to over analyze things all the time…see what happens to me when I do:

kinda weird….Foxtrot kinda resembles my family….or actually, me =P

Dinnarz!

I thought I would start posting on a regular basis what I’ve been cooking at home. You might notice that a lot of the dishes look the same….that’s probably because I cook based on what I have in the refrigerator and pantry….so don’t complain! :|

This one was similar, except I used a different cut of fatty beef. This was good…bite size is nice, and I didn’t overcook my veggies this time! Oh, I also added onions…stir frying beef with onions is awesome! I liked this one a lot. 8/10 :)

And tonight, I made brocolli, caulli flower, beef (didn’t have any fresh left, so I defrosted a chunk from the freezer)…and hopefully the last batch of pesto sun dried tomato pasta =P Oh, I forgot to mention, if you notice, there’s a a garlic herb pasta sauce that went with the veggies =) Overall, this was pretty good. 7.5/10 :)

Toilet!

This has got to be the weirdest men’s toilet I’ve ever seen.

Exercise and Chinese New Years

So today at 1pm, a bunch of us wako coworkers (Tian, Mike, Stef, Betty and I) decided to exercise. Where and how? Inside the air force base where we work of course! We love to go to work on a beautiful Saturday afternoon…NOT! The first thing I noticed when we got there was the strong and cold winds. I had originally only my shorts and tshirt on (I didn’t remember I was no longer in CA). After a freezing 30 minutes of trying to warm up, I decided to put on my long sleeves and jeans…I’m just too weak to be buff. Anyhow, we did HORSE for a while…and I survived! =) woot bball skills from Scott! Thanks!

Next we did volleyball…first practicing in the grass, then the real sand volleyball…but it was only 2v3 =P And you know how hard it is to run in sand and also convering 50% of the court….definately challenging. Wow..Betty’s serves are impossible to return. She’s MVP no doubt. Oh well, the worse part (which I knew would happen) was that the ball hurt my arm so much…i now have purple bruises on both arms. It hurts! Funny thing — all my critical dives in the sand to save the ball didn’t hurt at all. humf! =|

Then we met a 11 year old Sean around the bball court, and we decided to 3v3. It was pretty fun and challenging! We all had some good shots! yay! (Bball is always fun when it’s not pressuring and serious!)

Happy Chinese New Years! – Sunday January 29, 2006 is the first day of the Chinese new year. This year is of the Dog…. so if you’re a dog, here’s to you “woof woof woof woof…. woof woof!

We decided after all the exercise to go to:

Fu Yuang Korean & Chinese
3107 Eubank Blvd NE Ste 16
Albuquerque, NM 87111-4874

because they had a one day/year special for Chinese New Years, having $2.50/plate of dim sum! WOOT! DIM SUM? YEAH…I crave that. So here’s some pix:

chinese new year 2006 013chinese new year 2006 010chinese new year 2006 012chinese new year 2006 007chinese new year 2006 006chinese new year 2006 014chinese new year 2006 003chinese new year 2006 002

Ok…let me explain….these are small plates… the first pix is called “Steamed Shrimp & Scallop Shu Mai” first of all..they WERE NOT STEAMED..they were pan fried. Next, they weren’t SHU MAI! Also, the worst part…it wasn’t even filled with much shrimp or scallop..but instead vegetable fillings like those of a spring roll! Am I upset? Of course! =[ Look at their menu:

Highly disappointed…With each plate being so small and cold (they got cold being left in the kitchen because they batch cooked them), we all left the restaurant not full.
So what does a man do when his tummy is not happy? Cook something himself of course! I was so hungry I decided to make angus beef ramen! YEAH! I needed something hot, filling, tasty. I’m not asking much. How much did my ramen cost?

chinese new year 2006 015
MY ramen

Noodle: 10 cents
Veggie: 10 cents
Angus beef: $1
Total price of ramen: PRICELESS

No more Chinese imitation restaurants anymore. Suggestion: “Fu Yuang Korean & Chinese” should be called “We don’t serve real Chinese food here..go elsewhere“. Owned. GG.
